Bio

Rickardo Beckles-Burrowes is a British born, London based writer who studied Media Studies, English Literature and a City and Guilds in Television and Video Techniques at Stanmore College (1992-1994). Followed by a BA degree in Media Production at The University of Bedfordshire (formerly known as Luton University 1994 1997).
First feature length screen writing / directorial début was called ‘Noir Verité’ (1997) shown at the London Portobello Film Festival and the Naples Film Festival.
Short film: PA/head runner ‘Who thief The Wedding Cake’
Feature films: sound assistant/boom operator – ‘Waiting for a Killer’ (2000) and a head runner and P.A / actor on ‘Nine Dead Gay Guys’ (2002).
His first published poetry anthology (United Artists anthology inclusion & Ealing Council) is called ‘We’re Like Sheep’ (1998).
His next poetry anthology is called ‘Smoking Butterflies’ (United Artist anthology inclusion – 2005).
His third poetry anthology is entitled: ‘X’ (2012).

5th May 2015 – Spring has kicked in and the writing force is strong with ink moves. Drafting work on CITY LIVES – series one, the first of three television screenplays, is nearly complete. The city brings two men and two women together, who are all very different, looking at how they navigate love, sex and their complicated lives. London acts as the backdrop and as an unspoken member of this foursome. Whose edgy, exciting and sexually charged lives help to shine a light on greater issues which affect us all. 8th July 2015 – Summer has brought new writing developments with the completion of the first draft of CITY LIVES series one. Work has begun on redrafting this dramedy with the view to further work with external script consultants to support pitching the project. In parallel, film screenplay pitching will continue. While work continues on the next poetry anthology called: Neon Life; previews of new poetry coming in Autumn. 16th Aug 2015 – Redrafting work continues on CITY LIVES the first dramedy to be written and developed. Final edits will be made to The Sleepless Man and What He Made Me screenplays with pitching preparation running alongside.
